Could you post photos? Regarding measurements listed on this site, all are taken outside rim to outside rim. Likely, the bowls you have are Dip Bowls. Dessert bowls are only 4.25" in diameter and have smooth rims. Hope this helps.

In reply to <a href="https://eapcglass.com/oil-lamp/#comment-370">Curt</a>.

My friend Nancy recently acquired a "glass-threaded" EAPC Lamp. In her search for a burner that would fit, we've been learning more about oil lamps. My apologies. I think you're correct. That there may have only been one type of EAPC Oil Lamp. Those we think are glass-threaded may indeed be just lamps whose brass collars have come loose.

From what we've learned so far, dimpling along the top is all that holds the collar to the lamp. If the burner rusts and gets stuck to the collar, the collar can come out with the burner when unscrewing the burner.

We're still researching this to be certain, but I think you're right.

I am looking forward to receiving Volume 2. While going through Volume 1 I discovered that I have 4 of the very rare shallow bowls! I had totally forgotten about ever seeing those! I was so impressed with Volume 1, it is so nicely put together and the pictures are amazing. I have learned I still have some items to search for.

I really don’t know where to start with just how fabulous this book is! For years I have helped friends and relatives build their sets by treasure hunting the entire second hand market every chance I get!! I am often disappointed with any information I try to find about pieces I found. Then on the last on line search I found this book! Did someone make this lamp I just bought for $2 or is it original? It’s in the book!! What is this weird trinket box that has the same hobnail star but is obviously different? It’s in the book!! I could go on!
I think the best thing is that of all the years I was misunderstanding the “Star of David” was just a bad description of the little hobnail stars on most pieces. No spoiler here, but if you think the same thing get this book you will learn the truth and look at these pieces with new appreciation!
I love Tina’s personal story of collection, but even more, I’m just shocked at her dedication and thoroughness in research to put this together! Above and beyond!! Woman on a mission!
I’m not sure I have ever been more over-impressed on a purchase!

In reply to <a href="https://eapcglass.com/oil-lamp/#comment-370">Curt</a>.

Actually, there are both types. EAPC Oil Lamps with a glass-threaded collar have glass threading inside the collar. Lamps with brass inserts have brass threading and the inside of the collar is smooth glass, not threaded, into which a brass or brass-plated burner can be inserted. So there are two types.

There aren't any glass threaded EAPC lamps. Only lamps that have lost the threaded brass insert. That's why a burner is either loose or will not tighten in position. I've re-attached a few of them.
