This Platter by Crown Crystal Glass Company in Australia was frequently sold with Crown’s EAPC Salad Bowl at Coles Variety Stores. Crown copied Anchor Hocking’s Early American Prescut Large Platter and Large Serving Bowl. There are, however, a few differences.

Crown the Platter, Salad Bowl, and a 7-Part Divided Platter as part of its Crystacut line. The two platters were made in Crystal and Rose-Lilac. The Divided Platter was an original piece as Anchor Hocking never made a 7-Part EAPC Platter.

The Rose-Lilac Crown Platter and Rose-Lilac 7-Part Divided Platter have repeatedly been reported by well-known vintage glass authors as made by Anchor Hocking exclusively for Coles stores in Australia. This is not the case.

Proof that Crown Crystal Glass Company made these pieces, including how to distinguish them from Anchor Hocking platters, Crown Catalog photos, and vintage Australian advertisements, is detailed in Chapter 8 of Early American Prescut Glass: A comprehensive guide to Anchor Hocking’s iconic star pattern by Tina Spain McDuffie.

I don’t think anyone realized there are two different 13″ Crystal EAPC Platters until Nancy Hobbs and I discovered that Crown made the Rose-Lilac Platters, not Anchor Hocking.

Like its Anchor Hocking Large Platter counterpart, this Crown EAPC Platter is large and hefty, perfect for ham, turkey, roast and potatoes, cake, pie, or anything else you might want to serve on it.
