Crown Crystal Glass Company in Australia designed this EAPC 7-Part Divided Platter in Crystal and Rose-Lilac. While they copied Anchor Hocking’s Early American Prescut pattern, this piece itself is an original. Anchor Hocking never made a 7-Part EAPC Platter.
This Divided Platter has seven sections separated by raised dividing lines with a circle in the center. Six straight lines radiate out from the center circle to create six sections on the outside. The shades of the Rose-Lilac Platters vary greatly.
Crown did copy Anchor Hocking’s Early American Prescut Large Platter and released the Platter as part of its Crystacut line in both Crystal and Rose-Lilac. The Rose-Lilac color is often referred to as Cranberry, Lavender, or Pink. Crown also made an EAPC Salad Bowl in Crystal, a copy of Anchor Hocking’s Large Serving Bowl. One pale blue Crown Salad Bowl has been found; it’s likely a whimsy. The company may have made it in Rose-Lilac, too.
The Rose-Lilac Crown Platter and Rose-Lilac 7-Part Divided Platter have repeatedly been reported by well-known vintage glass authors as made by Anchor Hocking, exclusively for Coles stores in Australia. This is not the case.
Proof that Crown Crystal Glass Company made these pieces, including Crown Catalog photos, and vintage Australian advertisements, is detailed in Chapter 8 of Early American Prescut Glass: A comprehensive guide to Anchor Hocking’s iconic star pattern by Tina Spain McDuffie.
I don’t think anyone realized there are two different 13″ Crystal EAPC Platters until Nancy Hobbs and I discovered that Crown made the Rose-Lilac Platters, not Anchor Hocking.
This Divided Platter is excellent for serving a variety of meats, cheeses, nuts, candies, and/or other treats.
