Bowl Set – 9-piece

I found this EAPC Bowl Set advertised in National Petroleum News, Sept 1964, Vol 56, Issue 9, page 46. It doesn’t appear in any Anchor Hocking catalogs from 1960 thru 1979. Looks like it was only offered as a promotional item for retailers, in this case, gas stations. The ad reads:

A Premium Gift Set with 9 Lives

Here’s an easy way to attract new customers, hold old customers and increase gallonage and profit. Isn’t it worth a dime a week to get a 12-gallon customer coming in 9 times? That’s about the way it figures when you offer this popular Early American Prescut Bowl Set. Give one of the 8 small individual bowls for each minimum 8 or 10 gallon purchase, and save the Big Bowl till last… (or give it with an oil change or lubrication). You could also offer the large bowl on a self-liquidating basis. It works on a simple punch card system. And of course, A-board signs free with a minimum order. Let us tell you more about it.

A picture of a box was not provided in the advertisement. It makes sense that the bowls were probably sold in bulk, though. So gas stations could easily give individual bowls to customers as they fulfilled the premium’s requirements.
